Carlin Group - The game, the decor and the glamor - Womenswear - AH2016/17

Published
Dec 7, 2015

The recent tragic Parisian events remind us we vitally need parties and laughter, just like we need fresh air and water! Is it a pure coincidence that the notions of decoration and ornamentation, sparkle but also humor and play have been announced for winter 16-17? After several seasons dominated by intellectual minimalism, sometimes even asepticized, fashion finally remembers it can be frivolous and sparkling.

Numerous recent signs put us on the track: the last show of Marc Jacobs at the Zegler theatre, joyful like a circus parade or again at Gucci ‘s with the dazzling consecration of Michele and his Alice in Wonderland universe.

And then, there is that perceptible shift: the end of the 70’s… and the rise of the early-80’s, the fashion imaginary of the last century playing the source of inspiration role, for our sometimes vague future. In this category, we retain the graphic hedonism of italian troublemaker Fausto Puglisi and the one more edgy of J.W Anderson like a path to follow for the next winter season. Among the first pre-fall collections, we observe with interest the work of   Altuzarra and his maxi-sequins proposal.

So, Yes! to vibrant colors, Yes ! to satins and sequins  and Yes ! to decoration, especially with a touch of kitsch and extravagance.
In this perspective, the Carlin Group highlights for AW16/17 the Distractions trend, which fully assumes its frivolity and glamor tinted with humor.

This influence materializes in collections by the right balance between  reworked essentials in new fabric options , strong prints but placed on simple shapes, and more sophisticated “couture” pieces, that will get inspiration from accessories for details and finishings.
