Trendstop: Key Products at Trade Shows SS 2016

Published
Nov 6, 2015

The Spring/Summer 2016 season of trade shows is now at an end, having showcased thousands of ready-to-wear collections to industry professionals around the world. From Bread & Butter in Berlin and Premiere Classe in Paris to Scoop, Tranoi Femme, Who’s Next and many more, each show was curated with a diverse array of S/S16 products by a combination of emerging and established brands, many of which will prove influential for styles going into S/S16. Having attended all the key trade shows, the Trendstop trend experts have recently compiled reports on the essential new season products, highlighting the most directional and fashion-forward looks to update the womenswear wardrobe with. Below, we present you with a sneak peek at three must-have product trends, covering styles across apparel, accessories and footwear.

Apparel: Collarless Plastic Mac

A key apparel shape emerges in women’s outerwear, as Mac coats and jackets are revisited with new collarless designs. Plastic materials offer a waterproof quality for springtime showers, executed with pastel or metallic colourways to enhance the contemporary feel. Extra interest can be added with textured surfaces or colourful appliqué.

Accessory: Playful Utility Jewellery

Functional utility aesthetics take a fun direction for summer, introducing standout pieces to directional jewellery collections. Bracelets and necklaces incorporate unconventional combinations of rope, plastic and hardware detailing. Bright colour pops and striped prints enhance the playful mood.

Footwear: Mesh Panel Play Sneaker

In footwear, sporty sneakers are updated with a new play on texture, utilizing panelled surfaces. Open-gauge mesh fabrics are blocked across different areas of the shoe, contrasting with other materials like leather and suede. Colour and print mixes enhance the mishmash effect, creating athletic styles with a playful undertone.
