Who’s Next launches second edition of The Future of Fashion competition

Published
Jun 5, 2015

Who's Next and Not Just A Label are returning with the competition "The Future of Fashion” and are even expanding it to include a new category. The Parisian trade show and the web platform devoted to emerging designers are indeed preparing to launch its second edition, which will be held over the course of three seasons.

A silhouette by Kelly Love, the first The Future of Fashion Program’s ready-to-wear winner, and on the right, a handbag by Vaska, the winner for accessories - Who's Next.

The competition begins with pre-selection of international designers chosen to participate in the trade show Who's Next Lounge - Première Vision and to be given a commercial showcase. Following the show, a second selection will be made, then a third and final selection the following season with the designation of one winner per category. Three emerging brands will earn personalized support in order to develop a sustainable business model.

But for the second edition of the competition, the number of categories and finalists has changed. From two categories: ready-to-wear and accessories, a third will be added. This time there will be an additional urban fashion category, aimed at streetwear denim specialists. A jury will select ten young designers per category to participate at the show in September, and then five for the next session in January, before revealing the winner of each category in September 2016.

Registrations are already open for the upcoming edition and will be closed on June 19. There are two requirements for participation: having already produced and marketed at least two collections before the spring-summer 2016 season, which will mark the beginning of the competition, and having never exhibited at the trade shows Who's Next and Première Classe.
