Penhaligon's launches four new perfume bottles inspired by 'The Nutcracker' ballet

British perfume house Penhaligon's is marking the year-end festivities by redesigning the bottles for four of its iconic perfumes based on characters from Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker" ballet. The special editions will be available from November 28.

This project is the fruit of Penhaligon's collaboration with Clément Robert from the costume workshop at the Palais Garnier National Opera House in Paris. He designed the stage outfits for the perfume house's four signature scents -- Blenheim Bouquet, Empressa, Iris Prima and Endymion -- based on the theme of Tchaikovsky's ballet.

The young Clara and The Nutcracker puppet, who are transformed into a ballerina and a prince as the story progresses, inspired Clément Robert to make these costumes which remain faithful to the spirit of the Paris Opera Ballet's production.

The miniature costumes have been hand crafted and sewn on to the bottles. This feat of incredible expertise required over 20 hours of work for each perfume bottle.

The "Blenheim Bouquet" scent sports the ivory silk and gold braids of the solider in The Nutcracker, "Empressa" is dressed in young Clara's dress of silk muslin decorated with lace and satin ribbons, "Iris Prima" is in the ballerina's tutu made of tulle, gold thread and glass beads, and "Endymion" wears the prince's gold and white striped waistcoat decorated with tulle, braiding and lace.

These stunning perfume bottles will be available from November 28 at the Penhaligon's store in Paris. Price: €950 per bottle.
