Jean Paul Gaultier launches cheaper line for next spring

Published
Sep 7, 2010

Mentioning no names for this new capsule collection, but simply declaring it more casual at a more accessible price, it actually, confusingly, represents the return of a small secondary line for the brand to be launched next spring. It will be produced by Italy's GFM Industries.

Since the disappearance of Gaultier Jeans some years ago, and the alignment of an internal product offer with an end to its licensing, the brand operates under two labels: Gaultier Paris, which offers haute couture and Jean Paul Gaultier, behind which we find the first original line. And now the capsule collection, produced by GFM Industries; the fashion house’s new partner is already working with Aeffe for warp and weft, and Fozzi for knitwear.

Expected for spring-summer 2011, this unnamed collection should consist of 40 to 60 garment pieces. Casual clothing according to the house and particularly denim will all reflect the spirit of its first line. They will be presented to buyers in October during Paris’ Fashion Week. And if GFM Industries sorts out the production, the distribution will remain in the hands of the brand who wants to introduce this collection into its own label’s shops (Paris, Toulouse, Geneva and London), in department store concessions and multi-brand retailers.
