Vivienne Westwood and Eastpak in first-ever link to support oceans

Published

Vivienne Westwood has joined up with bags and luggage specialist Eastpak to “make a stand to save our oceans” in a first-time collaboration for the two.

Vivienne Westwood x Eastpak

They’ve created backpacks, belt bags, suitcases and more made from material created out of ocean plastic with the pair saying that the “sustainable collection reinvents some of Eastpak’s classic designs in the activist spirit of the British designer”.

Westwood has been very vocal for some time on sustainability issues and Eastpak is also working towards making its collections more sustainable. The companies said the collab “unites two environmentally-conscious brands that are committed to creating responsibly-sourced designs”.

There are five styles in the collection that uses recycled PET to manufacture the main fabric, lining, webbing, bindings, wrapping bag, rope, and logos. Long-lasting zippers, threads, and hardware are also featured.

Each design features the Sea Creatures print that was first used in Westwood’s Propaganda AW05 collection. Inspired by 19th Century marine drawings, it comes on a black background and is emblazoned with the Save Our Oceans slogan in eco-friendly silkscreen print.

The individual pieces are priced from £65 up to £160.
