Vault by Vans launches collection with Nigel Cabourn

Vault by Vans has teamed up with British fashion designer Nigel Cabourn to introduce a new collection of footwear and apparel inspired by vintage military materials, colors and aesthetics. 

Created by Cabourn and his collaborator Emilie Casiez, who heads his women’s line, the collection is characterized by thick textiles, custom jacquards, brushed and chipped metal vent holes, as well as custom camp linings and foot beds, while custom hand-drawn details and deco stitching add a personalized DIY feel. 

The collection features the OG Authentic LX in three Cabourn colorways. Starting with an Army camouflage complete with splashes of orange, followed by a natural/navy colorway and a navy mix colorway that showcases color blocking in various shades of blue.

Cabourn also put his spin on four other Vans’ silhouettes; the OG Classic Slip-On LX, in custom jacquard; the OG Style 23 LX with a striking navy and red-striped sole; the OG Style 24 in luxe herringbone tweed; and a top-to-bottom army green take on the OG Slip-On LX.

Meanwhile, the Chore Coat, a graphic crew neck fleece pullover featuring the designer’s own artwork screen-printed on the front, and a Loden Green cap make up the apparel collection, with crème deco stitching and doodles by Cabourn.

“I am very pleased to introduce my first collaboration with Vault by Vans,” Cabourn said. “This exciting, unisex collection is filled with fun designs inspired by my recent trips to California and Japan. Combining surf style with classic Cabourn military, a strong colour story and graphical influences, I really think we have come together to achieve a great, relaxed, après surf-inspired collection.”

Cabourn launched his eponymous label in 1970 where he took his influence from military and utilitarian clothing, with a focus on high-quality materials and timeless design. He started in menswear and come 2013 he finally launched his first womenswear collection and opened his UK flagship store at Covent Gardens in London. Today, he is known for his unisex outerwear and vintage-inspired designs.
