Valentino honored by the Green Carpet Fashion Awards

Valentino Garavani's glittering fashion career is being honored this month at the Green Carpet Fashion Awards.

The Italian creative, the founder of the luxury fashion empire Valentino, is set to receive the ‘Legacy Award' at the 2019 edition of the annual ceremony, which will take place at Milan's Teatro alla Scala on September 22, hosted by models Adut Akech and Jon Kortajarena. The event, which was established by the Camera della Moda in collaboration with the organization Eco-Age, honors the fashion brands attempting to boost their sustainability efforts. 

"Through his iconic work spanning over five decades, championing Italian talent, design and
fashion, Valentino is a creative visionary and truly deserving of the Green Carpet Fashion Awards' Legacy Award," Carlo Capasa, chairman of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana and Livia Firth, creative director and co-founder of Eco-Age, said in a statement.

The Green Carpet Fashion Awards made their debut in 2017, and the ceremony regularly attracts high-profile figures from the worlds of Hollywood and fashion (last year's attendees included Cate Blanchett, Elle Macpherson and Emily Ratajkowski). The 2018 edition saw the Legacy award given to Vogue International Editor Suzy Menkes.
