V&A to open Fabric of India exhibition

Published
Oct 2, 2015

After the unprecedented success of the Victoria & Albert Museum's last exhibition, Savage Beauty, the London museum is ready to welcome fashion enthusiasts once again with a new exhibition called Fabric of India.

The exhibition opens on October 3 and runs until January 10 - V&A

The show, which premieres on Friday for members of the museum and opens on October 3 to general public, will feature a stunning range of historic costume, highly prized textiles for international trade and cutting-edge fashion designs by celebrated Indian designers.

Featuring over 200 objects from 3rd to the 21st-century, the V&A will take visitors on a journey through India’s textile industry along the years, illustrating the skills, variety and adaptability of its makers and their different techniques.

The new exhibition was curated by Rosemary Crill, Senior Curator in the Asian Department, and Divia Patel, Curator in the Asian Department, and tickets cost £14 for non-members.

Fabric of India is part of the V&A’s India Festival, which will run through autumn in a series of exhibitions, displays, events, workshops and digital initiatives. The festival, which also includes the exhibition Bejewelled Treasures and the display Musical Wonders of India, marks the 25th opening of the Museum’s Nehru Gallery.
