Uniqlo revamps London flagship store with cultural hub and rooftop terrace

Published
Feb 16, 2016

Uniqlo’s flagship store at 311 Oxford Street is set to be re-opened in just a month, and to celebrate it, the unit will be the first in the world to launch the Liberty London for Uniqlo collection.

UNIQLO

The space, upsized from three floors to five, features now 2,240 square metres of space and several new concept areas, including a newly built rooftop terrace that will give shoppers breathtaking views of London.

A new sales area has been created to house Uniqlo’s LifeWear concept, while a cultural hub called WearHouse London has been added to host unique events throughout the year. The concept area, the first of its kind for Uniqlo stores, can be accessed from within the store, but also from its own private entrance from Oxford Street.

The company launched its London flagship nearly a decade ago, and to further enhance its services, Uniqlo has also launched a dedicated online shopping assistant, which will act as a guide to the store and provide stock levels information.

Takao Kuwahara, Uniqlo Europe CEO, said, "London was Uniqlo's first market outside of Japan when we opened in 2001. Our London global flagship store followed in November 2007, offering the largest Uniqlo sales floor space in the world at the time. The redevelopment, almost 10 years later, demonstrates Uniqlo 's longstanding commitment to London and our desire to continue to improve our offering for both a local and a global customer audience.”

The store re-launch will be supported by a campaign featuring a cast of London talent who are contributing to the city through their respective fields, and the launch of the brand’s new Spring/Summer collection with Uniqlo and Lemaire.
