The first Maison Berluti in London is open for business

Published
Jun 3, 2013

Located a few blocks from Savile Row, the first Maison Berluti to date has opened its doors, the start in a series of flagship openings in capital cities around the world. The men’s brand led by Antoine Arnault has transformed one of its shoe boutiques, located at 43 Conduit Street in a Victorian building, into a 350 square-meter flagship on three levels, carrying luxury shoes, leather goods and the new design world created by Alessandro Sartori.

Nearly twenty Berluti openings are scheduled to take place by the end of 2013.

The opening is actually a reopening after months of renovations. Berluti bought and renovated the registered historic landmark that previously housed a one-floor Berluti store, much more modest in scope since it “only” offered bespoke shoes. A made-to-measure shoemaker service, alterations and repairs are still being offered in this now very opulent setting in which the ceilings are partially clad in the same floor parquet (photo above), creating a paneled mirror effect.

Berluti had previously operated a bespoke shoe store at this address.

Berluti will be opening more stores and “maisons” like the London location at a stepped-up pace in the coming months. The brand’s lifestyle collection made a grand entrance at Harrods last September, yet another Berluti event in the British capital. As previously announced, the brand’s game plan foresees 20 openings, including Tokyo, New York, Shanghai and of course, its home base Paris, where the luxury brand will occupy 1,000 square meters at 14 rue Sèvres (formerly Arnys) and also a store in the faubourg Saint Honoré (formerly Façonnable).
