Seasalt Christmas sales are strong at home and abroad

Cornish fashion lifestyle label Seasalt said its Christmas and New Year trading was “positive” as both its stores and its webstore saw strong growth.

In fact, its physical stores growth outstripped that of online ops in the five weeks to January 4, the stores rising a healthy 15% and e-commerce channels up a lesser-but-still-good 13%. That all worked out at a 14% increase overall for the period, making Seasalt one of the big winners in what was a difficult season for UK retailers. The company’s CEO Paul Haynes admitted the firm faced “a tough and challenging market” during the period.

The company isn’t only winning in the UK market and its international ops leapt ahead by 43% during the festive season. This was helped by its first non-UK store with the firm having opened in Clonakilty in Ireland last summer.

As we can see, physical stores are important to the company’s growth and it opened two more UK locations as it headed towards the festive trading season. It opened in Lymington and in Edinburgh and said that the Scottish location was its number one revenue generator over Christmas.

The nearly-40-year-old company has 70+ stores in Britain and sells globally too.
