Schöffel launches Intellitex in innovation push

Schöffel, the German outdoor company, has launched a portfolio of technology solutions called Intellitex. The first innovation will debut as part of the wider Schöffel collection at the upcoming edition of Ispo Munich, taking place on 26-29 January.

Intellitex was created following an extensive R&D phase to reflect long-term trends in the clothing industry and address the needs of outdoor and skiwear consumers. The innovation management system spent two years identifying and analysing long-term market trends, with a special focus on consumers and their requirements for outdoor and ski clothing.

The range of technology solutions, integrated into Schöffel products, will provide extra support for customers during their outdoor activities, the brand said.

The first product in the Intellitex portfolio is Intellitex Heat, a new heating system for the Canazei skiwear collection. Schöffel is the first manufacturer worldwide to launch membrane ski pants with carbon heating elements, after developing carbon nanotubes that are just 1 millimetre thick. Additionally, the Canazei jacket features a heating pad in the shoulder area. The system ensures a constant temperature despite changing weather conditions and automatically switches to standby mode when not in use. Intellitex Heat will launch in stores from winter 2020/21.

“The ski clothing ensures better performance for the skier, as warm muscles are more powerful and ensure stability at higher speeds. The heating system prevents injuries more effectively because warm muscles and joints are less prone to injury. The system also protects against cooling at low temperatures and during changing activity levels,” said the brand.

At Ispo Munich, Schöffel will also present an ‘Outleisure’ range that aims to attract new customers to the brand. The Outleisure Sportswear, Outleisure Tech and Outleasure Casual product capsules collections have been designed for different consumer groups and needs. Meanwhile, a new multilayer concept will help ski athletes keep warm.

And the heritage brand will take the opportunity to raise funds for the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA), which brings together a group of businesses in the outdoor industry to support conservation projects worldwide. In partnership with Singtex, the brand will sell special S'Cafe shirts made using repurposed fabrics, with proceeds going to the EOCA.
