Sarah, of Colette, has got a brand-new brand – or book, rather

Sarah’s got a brand-new brand. Sarah Andelman, the driving force of the late shopping emporium Colette, has a new project – in publishing.

Entitled Just An Idea, the publisher – also a consulting and curating company – debuted with a compilation of its first five books, boasting ideas and concepts by a slew of hipster creatives – like writer Douglas Coupland, who invented the term Generation X; artists Sho Shibuya and Louis-Gérard Castor; illustrator Eric Eng and Nicole McLaughlin, whom GQ defined as an Upcycling Sorceress. A compilation of all five books made available to FashionNetwork.com includes forwards by Peter Saville and Pharrell Williams, making an irredeemably hip tome.

Designed by Yorgo Tloupas, Just An Idea books will always have the same 96-page format and same paper and be limited to just 300 copies.

Andelman’s goal: “to showcase creativity and to support people of all different interests and artistic visions. From one book to the next, each portfolio of images is a tribute to imagination and a gift for inspiration.”

In its opening salvo, Sho Shibuya’s contribution is a series of beautiful chromatic paintings of the sky, created on copies of the New York Times throughout the pandemic by the artist positioned at his Brooklyn apartment window.

“Using the front page of the newspaper for the first time as the country neared 100,000 deaths. Over months, gradient color washes are punctuated by key dates… with the series ending as Joe Biden gets elected President of the United States,” explains a forward by Patrick Li, creative director of T, the newspaper’s style supplement.

While Coupland provides a series of aphorisms, such as “Fear of boredom is just as good a reason as any,” which somewhat sums up Andelman’s whole outlook.

Besides Just An Idea, Andelman is also a consultant to such brands as Nike, Moncler, Sacai and Valentino.
