Punkish streetwear label Enfants Riches Déprimés opens first store in Paris

Enfants Riches Déprimés, the fashion label founded by Henry Alexander Levy in 2012, featured for the first time on the official Paris Fashion Week calendar in June 2017, when it introduced its wacky style, with a decidedly punk rock vibe. Enfants Riches Déprimés skipped this year’s June fashion week, but the designer has now announced the opening of the label’s first store in Paris in September, at 79 rue Charlot.

Enfants Riches Déprimés, the winter 2018-19 show

Enfants Riches Déprimés will take over the premises formerly occupied by Jonas Bowman jewellery. The fashion label is already distributed via about 30 stores worldwide, including exclusive concept stores such as Barneys in New York, The Webster in Miami, Maxfield in Los Angeles and Excelsior in Milan.

This first store is a milestone for the label launched five years ago by conceptual artist/designer Levy (based between Los Angeles and Paris), initially with a collection of T-shirts inspired by the time he spent in rehab clinics, then followed by a series of biker jackets and other jackets hand-painted with provocative slogans.

From its inception, the style of Enfants Riches Déprimés caught the eye of celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Kanye West and Justin Bieber, the kind of customers who can afford the label's mostly limited-edition items, with teesnselling at more than $300, knitwear between $300 and $3,000, and shirts at $500.

In September, the new store will showcase the autumn/winter men’s and women’s collection, with a broad range of check and tartan oversized jackets, turtleneck sweaters in all the colours of the rainbow, V-necked sweaters, chequerboard sports jackets, leather jackets and overcoats, and more. As usual, the mood is rock/punk, with a few hand-painted items, though the designs are more restrained than before.
