Privalia, Liverpool and Sears are Mexico’s top e-commerce labels

Published

Mexican department store Liverpool, fashion site Privalia, and American department store Sears are Mexico’s top e-tailers in terms of customer loyalty, found a study on e-commerce fashion by the digital marketing firm Elogia and the Mexican Association of Online Sales (AMVO).

20% of online shoppers in Mexico prefer to buy from international brands - Privalia

According to the report, Linio, MercadoLibre, Privalia and Liverpool were mentioned by more people interviewed in the study, but when it comes to buying, Mexican consumers showed a preference for Liverpool (with a share of 34%), Privalia (18%) and Sears (15%).

The report also found that 1.4 million people in Mexico shop regularly online, with an average of 1.4 purchases per person a month and an average spend of $1,300 pesos (about $78) per transaction. This means the online fashion market is worth $28 billion pesos (about $1.69 billion), an 18% share of total online sales in the country.

Mexico’s most popular e-tailer is the Catalonia-based Privalia, which according to Euromonitor, has the largest percentage of online sales in Mexico, followed by Walmart and Linio.

Earlier in 2015, the fashion company announced a market growth of 35% over the previous year. International markets account for 75% of the revenue of Privalia, with Italy, Brazil, Mexico and Germany (where it operates through Dress for Less), leading the list.

The report by Elogia and AMVO states that “the Mexican consumer is gradually becoming a keen digital shopper”, and suggests Privalia and other online marketplaces to improve their offerings in order to meet the increasing demand
