Primark to double size of Westfield Stratford store

Published
Feb 21, 2023

Primark’s expansion plans just don’t apply to new stores. The value fashion and lifestyle retailer is to almost double the size of its flagship store in Westfield Stratford City Shopping Centre in London, “offering even more choice across its extensive fashion, beauty, lifestyle and home ranges”.

The expansion, which is expected to complete in early 2024, will see the current store increasing from two floors to four, expanding from 45,100sq ft to 81,000sq ft. Meanwhile, 250 new jobs will also be created.

The announcement forms part of Primark’s planned £140 million investment in the UK high street, which will see the retailer create at least 850 new jobs and increase its selling space by more than 160,000sq ft over the next two years.

Kari Rodgers, Primark retail director UK, said: “After setting out an ambitious investment plan a few months ago, it’s exciting that we can now reveal another one of the stores set to benefit.”

Primark said it has committed to opening at least four new stores over the next two years – with Craigavon opened in December, and with Salisbury, Teesside Park and Bury St Edmunds to follow.

It is also planning refurbishments to existing stores as well as the relocation of some stores including Bradford and High Wycombe.
