Primark links with Fairtrade to launch skincare collection

Published

Primark has launched a global beauty partnership with Fairtrade, unveiling a skincare range that includes Fairtrade certified ingredients, “helping to support stable and secure livelihoods for farmers”.

Primark

The line-up includes nourishing body butter, bath oil, face cream, balm-to-oil cleanser, multibalm and hand cream. They contain Fairtrade certified shea butter and olive oil and are available in the Wellness section of selected Primark stores as of this month.

The launch is happening across all 14 markets in which the retailer operates in Europe and the US.

Each product displays the Fairtrade mark that “shows it has been certified to offer a better deal for the farmers and workers involved”.

Fairtrade certification has become increasingly important for products makers across categories as varied as fashion, beauty and foods. It comes as consumers increasingly expect the products they buy and the companies that sell them to be doing some good in the world.

Lynne Walker, Director at Primark Cares, said: “Our ambition is to make more sustainable products affordable for everyone while improving the lives of the workers who make our products. We know we can’t do this alone and so we’re delighted to partner with Fairtrade to work together towards our shared goals. This partnership will help us deliver on our ambition by offering an affordable beauty collection, at scale, which helps provide better opportunities for farmers without a high price tag.”
