New Bond Street to welcome new DSquared2 and Hackett flagships this year

Published
Jan 10, 2023

The undeniable appeal of New Bond Street is showing no signs of letting up with the latest brand news for the luxury shopping thoroughfare being that DSquared2 and Hackett will both open there in 2023.

GPE

They’ll be part of major London landlord GPE’s prestige Hanover development and in fact will be the final two Hanover retail lettings, occupying 67 and 69 New Bond Street.

The Dsquared2 store will be the brand’s new London flagship at number 67 and follows the label shuttering its previous flagship (which had occupied a massive multi-storey space on the corner of Conduit Street) post-pandemic.

Opening in Q1, the new store will cover 4,700 sq ft and will also be on multiple levels — in this case across the ground, basement and first floors. It will be next door to Opera Gallery and the impressive new Seiko flagship and will stock the brand’s collections for men, women and children.

The label is also sold in Harrods, Selfridges and Flannels in London but this new location will be its only standalone in the city.

Meanwhile, Hackett will be pulling out all the stops at number 69, with its first shop under a new concept that’s been dubbed ’14 Savile Row’ after the address of the label’s original HQ on London’s renowned home of bespoke tailoring.

It will cover 2,350 sq ft and will include both the bespoke offer and casual menswear.

New Bond Street last year handed over its title as Europe’s most expensive shopping street for rents to Milan’s Via Monte Napoleone, but it remains one of the world’s prime luxury shopping locations.

Stores there can command stratospheric rents, even though London is still battling a drop in international visitors due to the axing of VAT-free shopping for tourists two years ago.

The Hanover development has attracted a number of high-end names and as well as the aforementioned Opera Gallery and Seiko, it also hosts Bang & Olufsen, Canali, Pronovias, and Moyses Stevens, plus WatchHouse coffee house and The MAINE restaurant that are in Hanover’s newly created Medici Courtyard.
