The John Galliano label sent out its fall-winter collection on Sunday in the intimate surroundings of a Parisian salon -- and in a far more relaxed atmosphere after a dramatic week that saw the British designer's sudden fall from grace.

In lieu of Galliano's signature taste for bigger-than-life theatrics, the lower-key presentation saw models in outfits with unmistakeable 1920s silhouettes emerging from a mirrored door into a nouveau-riche drawing room.

Notable among the guests was Sidney Toledano, chief executive of Christian Dior, which abruptly fired Galliano -- who faces trial for making alleged anti-Semitic remarks -- on Tuesday, the first day of Paris fashion week.

"In trying times, you have to move forward and stay the course," Toledano told AFP, adding that while he has never missed a John Galliano show, he wanted this time "to be here to support the teams" who put the looks together.

Christian Dior, a cornerstone of French tycoon Bernard Arnault's luxury goods empire, holds a majority stake in the John Galliano label.

The mood was far more relaxed in comparision to the funeral-like mood at the full-scale Christian Dior show on Friday where Toledano firmly distanced the venerable Parisian fashion house from its chief designer of 15 years.
