Miu Miu Select by Sydney Sweeney hits 57th Street store in New York

​The brisk mid-30s fahrenheit temps didn’t deter partygoers at the Miu Miu Select party Wednesday night from donning the brand’s barely-there fall looks.

Held at the brand’s uptown store, which sits on the northeast appendage of the luxury corner that converges at 57th and Fifth Avenue, fashionable It-kids (average age must have been 24) turned up in micro-minis with bare legs, bra-tops, and sandals, even bared pregnancy bellies to toast Sydney Sweeney as she debuted her curation of the Miu Miu holiday collection.

Sweeney herself was perhaps the most appropriately dressed, wearing a leather version of the infamous Miu Miu fall 2022 collection mini-skirt with a leather jacket over layers, pantyhose, and knee-high cowboy boots.

“I’m from Northern Idaho, so I am loving this weather. I spoke to my mom today, and she said it's 15 degrees there right now,” said the actress, who is currently sporting a mousy brown hair color, apparently for an upcoming role.

Sweeney, who is softer and way more angelic than any of her bitchy teen characters, was positively giddy at her new role as a fashion editor.

“It was like a dream come true and so much fun being able to pick my favorite pieces from the collection. Do you like what I picked?” she asked.

The actress did single-out a bevy of delights, such as silk satin dresses and separates bedecked in crystal beading in white and soft pink merchandised with some coordinating faux-fur styles. For day, she favored embellished black shredded denim, velvet styles, and a bubble-gum pink crop top and short-shorts. In fact, many pieces throughout the store were of the cheek-grazing hot pants variety. Sweeney’s selections will be available to buy for a limited period only.

While she hinted that one might see her in some of the styles for various upcoming red carpet appearances, she was certain her characters won’t be donning any of her favorite looks.

“Most of the characters I have played haven’t been sophisticated enough to wear Miu Miu,” she said.

Guest such as Alyssa Coscarelli, Brenn and Jules Lorenzo, Chrissy Rutherford, Thakoon Panichgul, Claire Sulmers, Dalia Oberlander, Selah Marley Jessica Wang, Fe Noel, and Imani Randolph circulated through the store's three floors sloshing brightly-hued custom cocktails onto the baby blue carpeting throughout, listening to DJ Odalys upbeat, on trend setlist, while Sweeney sweetly chatted with fans, press and passed out autographs written on brand cotton squares.

Sweeney, whose first fashion show was Miu Miu, now finds herself in some high-bar fashion circles as a ‘selector'.  Launched in 2019, Miu Miu ‘selectors’ have included model and designer Georgia May Jagger in London; actress, director, model and fashion designer Chloë Sevigny in New York; stylist and influencer Veronika Heilbrunner in Moscow; actress and model Poppy Delevingne in Milan; model and designer Alexa Chung in Tokyo; model Jessica Kahawaty in Dubai; singer Yang Chaoyue in Shanghai; and singer Clara Luciani in Paris.

In 2022, Miu Miu Select landed in Dubai with Dana Hourani, in Singapore with Yoyo Cao, in Milan with Adwoa Aboah, and in Tokyo with Lotta Volkova.

Looking genuinely happy to be there, the up-and-coming Hollywood star was also excited to be going home for the holidays this Sunday.

“I can’t wait,” she admitted, but also a bit disappointed she wouldn’t be taking in any of the holiday attractions in the Big Apple. “I wish I could go shopping, but I don’t think there will be any time.”
