Following the opening of the 10 Corso Como concept store in Milan, which opened two stores in China, it is now luxury Milanese label Antonia's turn to head to China.
The multibrand retailer in April signed an agreement with Chinese distributor Canudilo. The information was revealed by the president of the group, Yongfei Lin, during a press conference held in Milan on Thursday to discuss the purchase of Dirk Bikkembergs by Canudilo.
Guangzhou Canudilo Fashion and Accessories has some 300 stores in China that sells its own brands positioned in the mid to high-end and 100 luxury monobrand stores (Armani, Givenchy, Roberto Cavalli, among others).
The group, which is looking to move up in scale, will be opening 5 Antonia points of sale from now until 2020. The first Antonia store in China will open in April 2016 in Macao. The 33,000 ft² space will be located in the new luxury shopping complex called "Parisian".
Antonia Giacinti, the famous Milanese buyer, who founded the Antonia fashion store in 1999, will see to the selection of the brands, merchandising and the store's lifestyle image.
"This retail point will be the twin of Antonia store in Milan. We want visitors entering the store to feel like they're in Milan," said Luciano Donatelli, strategic consultant for the Canudilo group in Italy.
A significant step for Antonia. The Milanese retailer has been increasing in visibility these last few years, especially since Antonia Giacinti started managing the Antonia fashion department of the Excelsior concept store (Coin group) with her husband Antonio Purificato, who oversees menswear, in 2011. Recently, Antonia also took part in the Pitti Uomo trade show with an original project, a temporary store called Goldmaniac. And she launched her own e-commerce site in May.
