Marie Claire dives into online shopping with fashion aggregator platform

Published
Nov 22, 2018

Marie Claire UK has teamed up with high-end and affordable brands including Selfridges, Asos and Net-a-Porter to bridge the gap between content and e-commerce via a new shopping platform.

Marie Claire Edit

This is the latest move from the UK publication to bring in extra income, after launching a premium beauty store, Fabled by Marie Claire, and extending its partnership with Next.

The online fashion aggregator platform, called ‘Marie Claire Edit’, features a selection of fashion and accessories curated by editors of the magazine and based on the latest trends, allowing users to browse and shop popular brands directly from the Marie Claire website.

Farfetch, Asos, Selfridges, Topshop, Net-a-Porter and Matchesfashion.com are part of the line-up of brands at the time of launch.

Marie Claire Managing Director Justine Southall said: “The job we do as magazines is to inspire, curate, edit, recommend and help our readers and customers make choices. Marie Claire has tried to anticipate the way that women want to engage with us and to shop, and with Fabled by Marie Claire and now with the launch of Marie Claire Edit, we have taken that into new territory. Now the power and influence of Marie Claire’s trusted fashion editors extends even further to offer brands and retailers a new way to engage with consumers through quality native content.”

Reaching 5.6 million women every month, the UK publication said Marie Claire Edit will offer brands a “key endorsement angle”. 1% of sales will be donated to leading global children’s charity Plan International UK, which promotes children’s rights and equality.

Marie Claire UK has also collaborated with Pinterest and Farfetch to celebrate the launch of the shopping platform. Readers are encouraged to create a Pinterest board and save their favourite looks from the Marie Claire Edit website to win a Farfetch voucher.
