“The Supervisory Board, together with Alexander Gedat, has agreed not to extend the contract of the current CEO,” said the brand in a statement. “Both the Supervisory Board and the rest of the Management Board would like to thank Alexander Gedat, who has played a decisive role in the company over the last 20 years, together with Werner Böck.”

With Dieter Holzer, the company, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, plans to look to the future "to set the course for the continuation of the success story through a change in leadership" to facilitate further growth. Holzer is a fashion industry veteran with experience in both wholesale and retail.

Marc O'Polo was founded in Stockholm in 1967. Soon after, the entrepreneur Werner Böck bought into the company and increased his shares, moving the fashion label to Germany in 1997. Today Marc O'Polo has almost 1,900 employees. Sales decreased from € 464 million in the previous year to € 460 million at the end of May. The company operates 108 own stores, and is present through another 203 franchise stores and more than 2,000 retail partners.
