LA Fashion Week makes a good entrance

The new edition of Los Angeles Fashion Week, supported by the CFDA took place at the Lighthouse ArtSpace in Hollywood, an entertainment multiplex used for digital art projections, such as Van Gogh.

The inaugural show was Maxwell Osborne. The New York designer, founder of his first label Public School in 2008 and now at the head of his new label AnOnlyChild, attracted some 300 people. 

As the public waited for the official opening of the venue, VIPs, media and celebrities were warmly welcomed inside. Some of the celebrity guests such as rapper Tyga, Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan or actor Jesse Williams were photographed from all angles, before making their way to the first room. Giant screens lined the entire space and broadcasted AnOnlyChild's colour palette. Guests then moved on to a second space. A large lounge adorned with mirror columns, baroque sofas and covered in Persian rugs. 

It wasn't until 8:30pm that the AnOnlyChild show finally started. The show appropriately titled "It's getting late B-sides" marked the second chapter of the collection. The designer presented Chapter 1 at the New-York fashion week at the end of September, to the theme: "a mash up of movement, music and most important, love".

The models walked to rap music and the song Back to Life by Soul II Soul, unveiling a colorful, gentle and sometimes sophisticated wardrobe, inspired by Osborne's Jamaican roots. The collection included flowing blouses, voluminous dresses, wide V-neck shirts, pleated pants, matched with bold coloured scarfs, like a deep, beautiful purple.

Silk, from deadstocks or recycled, was the star of this spring-summer 2023 collection. On the collar of a suit, a jacket with large epaulets or draped in evening dresses. Lace was paired with pleated satin skirts and a mesh shirt was assembled with a lace top and satin pants. The collection also featured a series of evening suits in lamé velvet and sport jackets, as well as an all denim look, made from recycled fabric. 

The show concluded with one final walk and Osborne greeted his guests accompanied by DJ Nicolas Jaar. An excellent start the the L.A Fashion Week and guests then continued on to an after party at West Hollywood Edition hotel.
