Klarna to open fashion pop-up in London
Payments provider Klarna will be selling a selection of fashion, beauty, sports and tech brands such as Asos, Beauty Bay and Cambridge Satchel Company at a pop-up store opening in London’s Covent Garden on 5 June.
The initiative will showcase Klarna’s new in-store capabilities, announced earlier this month to allow in-store shoppers to ‘pay later’ via their mobile phones.
The ‘all-immersive’ two-storey shop will be offering lifestyle events, refreshments, styling sessions, masterclasses and free beauty treatments in a “totally visual” space designed with “quirky, cool and amusing displays”.
Products from coveted brands including Finery, Schuh and Swoon will be also available for purchase.
Klarna said it has partnered with some of the UK’s biggest brands to host exclusive ticketed events. These will include activations by In the Style, My Gym Wardrobe and Ego Shoes, masterclasses with the Asos team, and manicures and blowdries courtesy of Beauty Bay.
Luke Griffiths, general manager of Klarna UK, said: “Whilst we believe payments should be smooth, we also believe the overall shopping experience should be inspiring so consumers can put together creative looks that are fun and affordable.
“With retailers facing increasing pressure to acquire, retain and convert customers, we wanted to show how creating positive consumer experiences is the real secret to success and building loyalty. Happy and engaged visitors will come back, bring their friends and share their experience through social.”
The pop-up store will open on 5-12 June at 9-11 Shorts Gardens.
