Kiabi drops collection dedicated to children with a disability

Published
Feb 13, 2017

Kiabi is looking to cater to all and in doing so, has tapped Les Loup Bleus, a clothing brand for children and adults with a disability. The collaboration has birthed a ready-to-wear line for children with reduced mobility and is available for purchase on the French store's e-commerce platform -- a first for a retailer with such a large distribution reach.

Kiabi has called upon Les Loups Bleus to conceive a collection for children with reduced mobility

The objective? "To facilitate the autonomy and the dressing of children who live with a daily reduced or restricted mobility," said Cécile Pouleur, designer for Les Loups Bleus.

The collection, which retails at an accessible price point (15 to 50 euros), is produced in France -- unlike similar products on the market -- from inside a standalone studio. There are 17 pieces to the collection, made from natural cotton and linen, with some items made seamless. Key pieces include an easy to wear t-shirt thanks to scratches on the back and a pair of pants designed for wheelchairs; functional and astute products, but also colourful and fun.

Kiabi, which employs 8,700 staff across 13 countries, recorded revenues of 1.7 billion euros in 2015 and is expected to double sales by 2021. In France, the retailer plans to open some 20 stores over the next five years, in the central region of the country.
