Kenzo champions clubbers with new short film

Kenzo has paid homage to nightclub culture with a powerful short film, 'Club Ark Eternal,' for Spring/Summer 2017.
The fashion house describes the film as "a tribute to club culture at a time of tragedy" when clubs need to be "understood and protected," saying: "With many countries around the world entering a winter of the soul, we wanted to celebrate the kids who go out in 15°F/-2°C."
A series of solo freestyle dancing clips in empty club spaces, kitchens, and the great outdoors, the film captures the magic of dancing alone. It aims to pay homage to the power of nightlife as a positive force against racism, sexual oppression and class violence.
The video was directed by the creative duo Partel Oliva, known for their recent work on Rebecca Zlotowski's movie "Planetarium." Grammy Award-nominated dancer and choreographer Ryan Heffington, who worked on the music videos for Arcade Fire's "We Exist" and Sia's "Chandelier" composed the moves to an original score by Lafawndah and BR-RR.
'Club Ark Eternal', which celebrates Kenzo's SS17 menswear and resort collections, is the latest in a string of striking, experimental films that the fashion house has commissioned of late, thanks to Co-Creative Directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon. Recent artistic works with an avant-garde element include Spike Jonze's lively "Kenzo World" ad, and Jean-Paul Goude's H&M x KENZO show.
