The editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar UK and Town & Country UK has announced her resignation to focus on her new book, "Miss Dior."

Justine Picadie announced her decision on Instagram on Monday, saying: “I feel immensely privileged to have edited two of the greatest titles in the world. It has been an honour to cherish their remarkable heritage, and a joy to nurture new creative talent, as well as building a team of brilliant and beloved colleagues.

“I’ll be remaining the role for the next few months - and attending the coming season of shows - so there will be time to ensure a smooth transition and many fond farewells.”

She spent seven years at Hearst, which also publishes magazines including  Cosmopolitan, Elle, Esquire and Good Housekeeping.

Her new book, Miss Dior, explores the life of Christian Dior’s beloved younger sister Catherine, who inspired his most famous perfume. Whilst the French designer honed his couture skills in a fashion house during World War II, Catherine dedicated herself to the French Resistance, until she was captured by the Gestapo and deported to the German concentration camp of Ravensbrück. Upon release, she spent the rest of her life caring for the roses that make up her signature scent.

Picardie’s latest book is scheduled for publication in Autumn 2020, and will be published by Faber & Faber in the UK and FSG in the US. She has previously authored five other books, including the critically acclaimed memoir, If The Spirit Moves You, and, most recently, a biography of Coco Chanel.

The journalist will continue to write and contribute to Harper’s Bazaar UK and Town & Country UK after her exit.
