Jacquemus opens Harvey Nichols London concession

Published
Nov 7, 2022

Harvey Nichols has unveiled a “unique” shop-in-shop concept at its Knightsbridge flagship for one of the hottest French fashion and accessories brands at present, Jacquemus.

Jacquemus/Harvey Nichols

It’s the largest retail space for the label in Britain at 900 sq ft and comes only two years after the brand opened its very first UK shop-in-shop.

The retailer said this new permanent space “is the ideal setting in which to embrace the tonal elegance of the AW22 collection, ‘Le Papier’.”

It was designed by Simon Porte Jacquemus along with international architecture firm AMO, led by Ellen van Loon and Giulio Margheri, and continues an ongoing collaboration with that business.

It’s certainly interesting as it uses only one material to help create an “immersive experience” while showcasing “an unrivalled edit of womenswear, menswear and accessories”. And it feels very different from many 'regular' designer label concessions.

Ellen Van Loon said the inspiration came from the brand’s origins in the south of France: “We wanted to capture the atmosphere of Provence through the materiality of the space, which led us to approach the design in a different way altogether. Instead of working with form and deciding on the materials afterwards, we chose the materials at the outset and let them guide the shape of the space.”

Harvey Nichols Fashion Director Laura Larbalestier added: “We wanted to give Jacquemus the freedom to push boundaries and create a universe on the first floor of our Knightsbridge store, which will encompass all categories of the collection. Fashion at Harvey Nichols is about supporting and developing the future of fashion and luxury. Simon’s innate storytelling ability and his dedication to defining the future of design is key to this evolution.”
