JD Sports Fashion names Williams joins as latest non-exec director

JD Sports Fashion has appointed marketing expert Suzi Williams as its latest non-executive director, effective 16 May.

Williams has spent 30 years running global consumer brands and businesses for blue-chip companies including Procter & Gamble, Orange, BT Group, as well as for broadcaster the BBC.

As chief marketing officer at BT, she led its London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic programme and oversaw the launch of BT Sport. She now combines FTSE non-executive roles with board advisory positions to technology start-ups.

Executive chairman Peter Cowgill said: “Suzi brings a significant amount of consumer marketing and management experience to the group. It is intended that, in due course, Suzi will take up the role of Remuneration Committee Chair. The appointment is a further indication of the progress that is being made to strengthen the board with the appointment of new members with extensive skills, experience and expertise.”

Williams joins other recent highly-rated non-executives appointments to the board that includes tech-savvy Mahbobeh Sabetnia, who has held an executive role with Amazon, and Helen Ashton, a former finance chief at fashion e-tail giant ASOS.
