Isabella Burley has been named as the new chief marketing officer of Acne Studios. She continues the long tradition of prominent journalists moving into the fashion industry and particularly into marketing roles.

The former editor-in-chief of Dazed will oversee global marketing and communication, as well as brand image at the 26-year-old Swedish brand. She confirmed the appointment with an Instagram post.

Although the label’s HQ is in Stockholm, Burley will continue to work out of London.

Burley was at the helm of Dazed magazine from 2015 to early 2021 when she left and was replaced by Ibrahim Kamara.

She also began working with Acne Studios last year in the newly-established post of creative editor.

She has extensive experience of working directly with luxury brands and while still at Dazed, she also held the editor-in-residence role at Helmut Lang. And she worked on the development of the Marc Jacobs Heaven project.
