Inditex has announced it will scrap a number of mannequins that are on display at its Lefties stores as, according to the company, they do not comply with its health and beauty standards.

Inditex’ Lefties to replace skinny mannequins

The move follows a Change.org petition, which was signed by nearly 100,000 who think the dummies look “anorexic” and represent “impossible beauty standards”.

In a statement Inditex emphasizes that the skinny mannequins belong to an older set and that a replacement will take place immediately.

“Mannequins used in all Inditex stores abide by the group’s health and beauty standards”, it said referring to its newer dummies.

Further, the Spanish retailer reaffirmed its commitment to “all aspects related to the field of health”, and pointed out the different initiatives it has participated in this area, both from the private and the public sector. Inditex will “continue making every effort to improve every day”, the statement read.
