Iceberg recruits James Long for menswear

Published
Nov 12, 2015

After the appointment in June of Viennese designer Arthur Arbesser, who took charge of Iceberg's womenswear collections, the Italian label has completed its creative line-up by appointing James Long as Creative Director for the menswear line.

Iceberg, the leading brand for Italian group Gilmar and a long-standing knitwear specialist, stated in a press release that Long will take charge with the autumn/winter 2016-17 collection.

James Long - Iceberg

The menswear line was designed since last season by an internal design team, following the departure of Federico Curradi, who headed Iceberg's menswear since winter 2014. Just as with the womenswear line, a relaunch is planned for Iceberg Homme.

James Long is greatly appreciated by his seniors and is one of the most promising talents on the London scene. The 34 year-old British designer holds a Master degree in menswear and accessories from the Royal College of Arts, and benefited greatly from the support of the NewGen scheme, set up by the British Fashion Council to promote young designers.

Long is based in London, where he shows, and launched in 2011 his own menswear brand "featuring a relaxed design approach, creating a style that blends provocation, attention to detail and high appeal in the items on offer," Iceberg stated. Long's clothing is distinctive chiefly for the use of leather, denim and printed fabrics.

Paolo Gerani, Gilmar's boss, said that "his sportswear aesthetic, innovative way of treating knitwear, passion for prints and use of tech materials make James Long the right designer for Iceberg Homme's collection."
