Hugo Boss presents men's-only show at NYFW:M

Hugo Boss is showing its BOSS menswear offerings in a stand-alone show at New York Fashion Week: Men’s on Tuesday. This is a big change from recent seasons, where the men's collections were shown in a mixed men’s and women’s show, or not at all.

Hugo Boss launched a huge restructuring last November, casting menswear in a more central role so that the company could refocus on its original expertise. The restructuring cut smaller brands, like Boss Orange and Boss Green, to focus on just two lines in the core business: Boss, the upper-premium business wear brand, and Hugo, a more trend-driven brand.

The label had also made it clear the priority would now be menswear, also announcing in November that it will no longer be showing its women's collection at New York Fashion Week. Following this news, Ingo Wilts, the chief brand officer of the company, explained to British Vogue, “Our womenswear is, and will remain, a key component of our medium-term growth strategy, and the creative input offered by Jason Wu remains extremely important to us. We value his work very highly. However, it is essential that we achieve a better balance between our menswear, which has traditionally been so pivotal for us, and our womenswear.”

Wilts recently took over the creative helm of Hugo Boss’s male label, succeeding Christoph Auhagen, who stepped down from the role of chief brand officer.

The Boss menswear show will take place Tuesday in New York City.
