House of Fraser names Dorothy Maxwell Head of Sustainability

House of Fraser, the British department store retailer, has announced that Dr Dorothy Maxwell is its new Head of Sustainability.

This is a new role and will see Maxwell responsible for enhancing the retailer's corporate sustainability commitments and values and making sure they're embedded into House of Fraser's business strategy and operations.

Commenting on her role, Dr Maxwell said: “Strong sustainability performance is essential for good business in the 21st century. I’m very excited to lead House of Fraser in shaping the future of sustainable retail.”

Over the last 20 years Maxwell, who holds a PhD in Environmental Science and a Masters in Environmental Economics & Law, has worked with high profile brands and retailers, including Nike and John Smedley, on environment and sustainability initiatives. She has also led multi-stakeholder coalitions, including the Sustainable Clothing Roadmap, to drive sustainable production, consumption and the transition to a green economy, House of Fraser said.
