Highsnobiety announces 'Not in Paris II' digital exhibition

Published
Jan 20, 2021

German streetwear-focused media brand Highsnobiety has announced 'Not in Paris II', the second iteration of the company's digital exhibition meant to connect audiences directly with brands, artists and creatives as fashion weeks get canceled during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Highsnobiety

The first Not in Paris exhibition launched last June, in response to the cancellation of in-person runway shows at Paris Men’s Fashion Week. This time around, the exhibition's program features projects and exclusive content from fashion contributors including Dior, Bottega Veneta, Hermès, Fenty and Rick Owens, among other luxury and independent brands, as well as DJs and artists Robert Smithson and Thomas Ruff. Some other names on the program's roster include Barragán, Bond Hardware, Dingyun Zhang, JW Anderson, 2 Moncler 1952 Man and Vivendii.

Exhibition pieces will include a range of multimedia works from collection presentations to music video releases and short films.

Not in Paris II will debut on Highsnobiety.com on January 20 and will launch new projects daily on a rolling basis through January 26, the company said.

“When we first came up with this exhibition last spring, our team and myself were amused at the idea of celebrating the time period formerly known as Paris Men’s Fashion Week in a venue with no runways, or often even with no clothes," said Highsnobiety editor-in-chief, Thom Bettridge.

“Yet, as the project went on, this glee turned into something else. The reality that ‘Not In Paris’ could be a venue where luxury and emerging brands could show on equal footing — and where fashion and non-fashion could coexist on the level of storytelling — became increasingly important. Furthermore, as the culture industry was shaken from its ignorant slumber on the subject of systemic racism, this project’s founding concept of flattening hierarchies, genres, geographies, biases, or any other kind of barrier became a source of inspiration.”

Coinciding with the program, Highsnobiety announced it will host a special exhibition titled 'Berlin, Berlin', an homage to the cultural contributions of the German capital city set to be unveiled in timing with Berlin Fashion week. The project will run from January 22 through 24 "with physical extensions that will revitalize and champion contemporary fashion and culture in Berlin," the company said.

To promote the exhibition, Highsnobiety will launch an exclusive capsule of Not In Paris II merchandise—including a t-shirt, hoodie, baseball cap, and pin set—on Highsnobiety's e-commerce platform, on January 20.
