Jun 28, 2016

Gucci is headed to the Miami Design District. Miami’s luxury shopping, dining and art destination announced on Monday that Gucci will build a flagship store this year.

The American press is reporting that the Gucci flagship will be a two-level store with at least 7,000-square-feet of retail space.

“Gucci has always represented great design and contemporary lifestyle,” said Gucci President and CEO Marco Bizzarri. “We want to be where collectors, style influencers and cultural creatives come together, and in Miami that’s the Design District.”

The Italian fashion house will join Hermès, Fendi, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Cartier among other luxury brands in the Miami Design District. Other fashion labels that were announced on Monday to open at the Design District include Alexander Wang, MM6, Cos, Eres and Warby Parker.

Thirty-one brands and restaurants are slated to open in the Design District in the coming year including Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana, Isabel Marant, Diane von Furstenberg, Tory Burch, Tod’s, Loro Piana, Rag & Bone, Creed, Tod’s, Joseph, Aesop and Stefano Ricci. In addition, Christian Louboutin will expand his presence in the Design District by opening a flagship store in spring 2017.

The Miami Design District currently spans 18-square blocks and houses 60 luxury boutiques and a dozen restaurants. The next phase of development slated for completion in 2017 will add just over 250,000 square-feet of high-end retail space, a 120-room hotel and a 900-car parking structure.
