Gucci announces upcoming collaboration with The North Face
World-famous Italian luxury fashion house Gucci has revealed that it is teaming up with iconic American outerwear brand The North Face for an as-yet-unspecified collaborative project.
The Florence-based fashion label announced the collaboration with two short videos posted on its Instagram and TikTok accounts on Wednesday. The clips feature shots of natural landscapes and a co-branded flag combining elements of the Gucci and The North Face logos. Both posts are accompanied by the hashtag “#TheNorthFacexGucci.”
For now, the only other information about the upcoming collaboration being offered by the brand is a statement saying, “Gucci and The North Face confirm that they will be bringing a collaboration to life in the coming months that celebrates the rich heritage of both brands.”
The partnership will be the latest in a series of high-profile collaborations undertaken by The North Face with brands ranging from cult streetwear label Supreme to Japanese luxury fashion brand Sacai and, most recently, MM6 Margiela.
The creative partnerships are part of efforts being made by the VF Corp.-owned outerwear brand to widen its focus beyond outdoor adventurers, efforts which have also included the launch of the company’s first fashion collection, entitled “The Black Series,” in February.
The partnership with Gucci will be the first time that the Italian fashion house has teamed up with a brand for a full-fledged collaboration since Alessandro Michele took over as creative director five years ago.
No further details have been provided concerning what the collaboration will entail or when it will launch, but the use of Gucci’s emblematic green and red stripes in the co-branded flag featured in the announcement teasers might hint at the possibility that it will involve the house’s signature colors.
