Fashion week: Algiers puts on first fashion week

From June 7-13, Algiers will host its first fashion week. During the event, which will be devoted to the promotion of Mediterranean fashion, designers from Algeria, Morocco, France, Egypt, Italy and the United Arab Emirates will present collections.

For four days, from June 10-13, the heart of the Algerian capital will beat to the rhythm of fashion shows. 

As for the first few days of the week, from June 7-9, these will be devoted to fashion lectures with themes such as "The creation of fashion businesses in Algeria" (presented by the fashion designer Samir Pain) and "Fashion and globalization" (presented by Gildas Minvielle of the French Fashion Institute). 

What’s more, during this first fashion week - which is being organized by Lynda Younga-Berber (the daughter of Faiza Arabella, who founded the eponymous brand), Samir Pain and Pierre Prigent-Humblot (former communications and marketing executive) - there will also be talent competition for young designers. 

The grand prize winner will receive financial assistance in order to develop and prepare a collection for the next Fashion Week Algiers in 2016.
