Farfetch.com searching for the next best superstore

Published
Apr 25, 2013

The website Farfetch, which recently received more than 20 million dollars in an investment round led by the Condé Nast group, has been tracking the best designer multibrand concept worldwide since last year. Eight new stores are now competing for the title of “Superstore” of the year, and Farfetch website users will soon be able choose the winner by voting online. An eight member panel of celebrities in fashion and retail made the initial cut for the shortlist. Their ranks include Geert Bruloot, founder of the famous Antwerp Coccodrillo store, stylist Anna Trevelyan (former assistant to Nicola Formichetti) and the French fashion photographer Mathieu Caesar.

One lucky voter will be selected in a drawing to win not only a gift certificate for the winning boutique but also a round-trip flight to the city where the lucky store is located. And the winning boutique will get a free corner on Farfetch.com for one year that will immediately give them international exposure to Farfetch customers. The Berlin concept store of Kostas Murkudis made the 2013 shortlist, as well as Void, a new Parisian address that exclusively carries menswear. Founded by Alexey Shumekyo and Gregory Delos, both passionate about fashion and architecture, Kostas Murkudis is the first retail venture by this duo who are only in their thirties. Their hundred-square-meter store with gallery decor offers a selection mined from such names as Yohji Yamamoto, Silent by Damir Doma, Alexandre Plokhov and The Viridi-Anne.

The jury of the first edition in 2012 had shortlisted the Voo Store in Berlin, which beat out Merci à Paris and Primitive in London.
