Donatella Versace tells her story in a book
Donatella, the younger sibling of the Calabria-born Versace brothers, was propelled to the post of creative director for the renowned Italian fashion label in 1997, following the tragic death of her brother Gianni, and she had to draw on all her energy to ensure the brand's continued existence. This is the story the world's most famous platinum blonde tells in her book, to be published in November.
Entitled simply Versace, the 336-page volume contains nearly 250 pictures and delves into Donatella's personal life, as well as offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the fashion label. The book is co-written by Donatella Versace with Luisa Frisa, the author of several other fashion publications, and Stefano Tonchi, editor-in-chief at W Magazine.
Page after page is filled with pictures of top models Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista, shot by top fashion photographers such as Richard Avedon, Steven Meisel and Mario Testino, mixed with more intimate, unpublished pictures snatched on a show's backstage or inside the label's ateliers. The book also features a series of the most iconic 'red carpet' moments, with images of Versace-clad planetary celebrities.
The book is published by Italian publisher Rizzoli and will be available from November at a price of €95.
