Dolce & Gabbana has strengthened its bond with Luxottica until December 31 2029. The Italian luxury label has in fact announced the early renewal of the worldwide licence agreement for its sunglasses and eyeglasses with the eyewear giant founded by Leonardo del Vecchio.

“Dolce & Gabbana is a truly global and iconic brand and a true ambassador of made-in-Italy style. We look forward to continuing to shape the idea of luxury eyewear together in the decade ahead, as we did in the last 15 years,” commented Leonardo Del Vecchio, executive chairman of Luxottica.

The new agreement, effective from January 1 2020, strengthens the connection between the two groups, which first joined forces in 2006.

“We are very confident that by continuing our partnership with Luxottica (...) we will further realize the potential of the Dolce & Gabbana eyewear collections which are an increasingly significant part of the brand's image,” added Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, the Italian label's founders.

Eyewear and beauty are Dolce & Gabbana’s only two business that are run via licensed partners. The label in fact produces and distributes directly its other product categories, from apparel to leather goods, footwear, accessories, watches and fine jewellery.

Dolce & Gabbana is one of the leading names in Luxottica’s portfolio, which includes nearly 30 licensed brands, among them Giorgio Armani, Prada, Valentino, Versace, Burberry and Chanel. The group led by Leonardo del Vecchio merged with French ophthalmic lenses leader Essilor in 2018. The merger spawned a giant eyewear group called EssilorLuxottica, listed on the Paris stock exchange and with a revenue of over €17 billion in 2019.
