Diesel is persisting in its fight against counterfeiting. In 2019, the leading label of Renzo Rosso’s OTB fashion group undertook a spate of initiatives in its constant effort to protect its intellectual property rights, halting the production and sale of counterfeit Diesel products.

A series of raids in Chinese factories led to the seizure of over 4,000 pairs of jeans, 3,000 T-shirts and sweatshirts, 5,000 belt components and 4,500 Diesel labels.

Helped by local police, Diesel uncovered a cache of counterfeit products in Egypt, and 5,000 pairs of fake jeans in Morocco. In the UAE, over 8,000 pairs of eyeglasses were seized; 23,704 units were seized in Turkey; 5,823 polos in the UK; and another 1,796 products in Portugal, including belts, T-shirts, perfumes, jeans and product labels.

Online, Diesel blocked 1,244 sites and 2,351 social media Urls (the majority of them on Instagram) selling counterfeit products, and took down 4,901 fake ads, especially in Europe, on Google and Bing. Most of the measures targeted Taobao in China, Mercado Libre in Brazil and eBay worldwide, for a total of 2,838 copyright and trademark violation cases.

“The legal actions undertaken have led to a substantial reduction in the number of counterfeit Diesel products on the market, and the company will continue its fight and do everything in its power to protect the brand’s reputation the world over,” said Diesel.
