March 23 (Reuters) - Deckers Outdoor Corp (DECK.O) said its chief financial officer resigned to pursue other opportunities.

The footwear maker's shares fell about 7 percent to $45, before recovering most of their losses to trade down 5 cents at $48.18 Monday morning on Nasdaq.

The company said Thomas Hillebrandt resigned, effective March 20, and named Chief Operating Officer Zohar Ziv -- Deckers' former CFO -- as principal financial and accounting officer until a replacement is appointed.

Last month, Deckers Outdoor posted fourth-quarter results that beat market estimates but forecast a weak 2009. (Reporting by Poojya Trivedi in Bangalore; Editing by Amitha Rajan)
