Global beauty group Coty Inc. – parent company of brands including Covergirl, Max Factor and Rimmel – announced on Tuesday that it has named L’Oréal and Louis Vuitton alum Sophie Hanrot as chief human resources officer, a role in which she will succeed Sébastien Froidefond, who is leaving the company for personal reasons.

In her new position, Hanrot will lead Coty’s HR operations and will also serve on the company’s executive committee, reporting directly to Coty CEO Pierre Laubies.

Hanrot brings over two decades of HR experience to the role, having spent the last three years as SVP for HR in Coty’s luxury division. Prior to this, she served as global head of talent at Louis Vuitton from January 2013 to April 2016, following another three-year stint as global management development director at L’Oréal.

In 2006 she founded her own executive coaching and development company, People Capital Management, where she served as CEO until 2010. The ESCP Europe graduate’s previous experience also includes a series of executive roles at Heidrik & Struggles, Russel Reynolds Associates and Bourjois.

"Over the past three years as SVP of HR for our Luxury Division, Sophie has proven herself to be a strong leader, adept at successfully driving major business and cultural transformation while minimizing business disruption," commented Laubies in a release. "Under her leadership, the HR teams have significantly contributed to the P&L of Coty Luxury by implementing a lean organization, building high talent teams as well as promoting a culture of performance within the division."

Hanrot’s appointment is effective July 1, 2019.
