American outdoor group Columbia Sportswear Company has announced that Emily Rompala is joining the company in the newly created role of senior vice president for omni-planning and fulfillment operations.

In her new position, Rompala will lead the Portland, Oregon-based company’s omni-planning team across all brands and channels. She will also be responsible for promoting the ongoing improvements in Columbia’s omni-planning process and technology capabilities across the organization.

In addition, she will lead the group’s fulfillment operations team, working to ensure global omni execution. She will report to Columbia’s executive vice president and chief supply chain officer, Lisa Kulok.

“Emily brings decades of experience in planning and allocation within the apparel industry,” said Kulok in a release. “We’re excited to have her hit the ground running in this new role.”

“Columbia Sportswear Company is an iconic brand. I’m happy to have the opportunity to contribute to their global operations and support the mission of connecting active people with their passions,” added Rompala.

Columbia, which, along with its namesake brand, owns the Mountain Hardwear, Sorel and prAna labels, reported annual sales of $2.5 billion in 2020, a decrease of 18% compared to its 2019 revenues. The group's net income for the year totaled $108.0 million, or $1.62 per diluted share, down from $330.5 million, or $4.83 per diluted share, in the previous year.

Rompala’s arrival at the company is the latest in a series of appointments made by the group since the start of 2021. Earlier this month, Columbia brought two Nike alums on board, with Craig Zanon being named as senior vice president for emerging brands, while Skip Potter stepped into the newly created role of executive vice president and chief digital information officer.
