The second edition of the Green Carpet Fashion Awards will be held September 23 in Milan -- closing the Italian city's Fashion Week -- with global celebrities Cate Blanchett, Julianne Moore and Cindy Crawford in attendance. The trio will lend their support to the event, which sees designers and companies crowned for their efforts to make the fashion industry more sustainable.

At a press conference held this week the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, in partnership with Eco-Age, unveiled 13 award categories for this year's Green Carpet Fashion Awards, celebrating the designers and industry players committed to making fashion a more sustainable business.

The event will be held at Milan's La Scala theater on the closing day of the city's Fashion Week and boasts a prestigious lineup of special guests, including the actresses Cate Blanchett and Julianne Moore, and the model Cindy Crawford, as well as several firms from the luxury sector.

One of the most eagerly awaited awards will be "The Franca Sozzani GCC Best Emerging Designer," awarded in memory of the Italian fashion journalist, Franca Sozzani, who died in December 2016 and was known for championing sustainability and diversity.

Last year's award winners include Gisele Bündchen, who was notably recognized for her commitment to various environmental causes and for her efforts in helping to preserve the Amazon rainforest in Brazil.
