Carlos Nazario named global fashion director at i-D

Vice Media’s i-D magazine has named Carlos Nazario as its global fashion director, leading its fashion team and working directly with the recently appointed global editor-in-chief Alastair McKimm.

Carlos Nazario is i-D's new Global Fashion Director

He’ll commission fashion stories and features for the brand across print, digital and video, starting the role immediately.

The New York native has been described by Vice as “one of the most exciting and progressive voices in today’s new guard of fashion.”

And he’s certainly had an interesting career. After six years working alongside stylist Joe McKenna, as his first assistant, in 2016 Nazario branched out on his own as a “freelance stylist, creative consultant, and image-maker.”

He’s worked alongside an impressive line-up of collaborators including Oliver Hadlee Pearch, Ethan James Green, Tyler Mitchell, Mario Sorrenti, Collier Schorr, and Mert and Marcus.

Alastair McKimm called him “an incredible stylist” and “the voice of a new generation [who] embodies i-D through and through”.

Nazario himself said that the magazine “is such a huge part of the reason I work in fashion today. I have always been inspired by the ethos of the brand and its commitment to documenting the most exciting, heartfelt, relevant and colourful stories happening in our global culture.”
