Berluti to replace Façonnable on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré

Published
Oct 24, 2012

The space currently occupied by Façconnable on rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris will become home to Berluti from 2013, with the lease officially beginning on 22 December of this year. 2013 will also see the brand opening an 11,000 square-foot store on the city’s rue de Sèvres, sharing the space with Arnys after their acquisition of the Parisian tailor last spring.“This acquisition brings together two brands which, in their own respective ways, embody generations of excellence, savoir faire and creativity,” said Antoine Arnault, managing director of Berluti. The transformation into a multi-faceted brand will progress even further in the next few weeks when the recently-acquired Anthony Delos will be available in Berluti boutiques.

Antoine Arnault seems to have been given the green light from his father Bernard Arnault to go ahead with the ambitious task of creating a global luxury fashion house stirctly for men. For the design side of the business, Alessandro Sartori left his position at Zegna in 2011 to oversee the creation of Berluti’s (future) ready-to-wear line. With the former head of communications at LVMH now at Berluti, it seems the resources at the brands disposal are limitless.

Berluti premiered their new concept store in Harrod’s London this summer, a city with notoriously high real estate costs. During this period it was announced that the brand’s made-to-measure footwear store in London is due to undergo a huge renovation in order to better serve customers in 2013.

The beginning of October saw the opening of Japan’s first Berluti store, complete with the lifestyle concept created by Alessandro Sartori. The store opened in Osaka’s luxury shopping centre. Next to follow will be Beijing and Shanghai and shortly after the two Paris stores will open. Openings in the United States are also in the works according to sources.

The company’s savoir-faire, its prime store locations and not to mention the recent acquisitions, it seems like the menswear division of the LVMH group is set to take the market by storm.
